Bengaluru: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wipro 3D to establish an Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence at the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) in Bidadi.

The Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence aims to strengthen industry–academia collaboration and build future-ready capabilities in advanced manufacturing technologies.

The MoU signing ceremony witnessed the presence of senior leadership from both organizations. From TKM, Hiroki Ando, Vice President – HR & Services, and Lakshmikeshava Shastry, Vice President, Information Technology, Digital & Cyber Security, attended the event. Representing Wipro 3D were Pratik Kumar, CEO of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering, Shripad Ramanathan, Vice President & Finance Head, Yathiraj Kasal, General Manager & Business Head, Wipro 3D, and Deepak, Sales Head, Wipro 3D.

The Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence will function as a dedicated platform for skill development, applied learning, and innovation. It will provide students with hands-on exposure to additive manufacturing and real-world industrial applications.

Through this initiative, the Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence will integrate emerging manufacturing technologies into training programs, enabling students to gain practical experience in modern production environments.

As part of the collaboration, Wipro 3D will contribute technical expertise, workforce upskilling, and structured training modules. The Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence will offer internships, apprenticeships, live industry projects, certification courses, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Additionally, the program will emphasize Kaizen-driven continuous improvement practices and Industry 4.0 technologies, including digital manufacturing, smart systems, and resource optimization.

By leveraging Wipro 3D’s capabilities, it will enable on-demand manufacturing of parts, accelerating new product development (NPD), improving assembly line efficiency, reducing lead times, and enhancing operational flexibility.

Commenting on the collaboration, G. Established in 2007, the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) has emerged as a model institution for vocational education in India. It offers a three-year fully residential training program in key trades such as Automobile Assembly, Welding, Painting, and Mechatronics.

In 2023, TTTI expanded its annual intake from 1,200 to 2,400 students, with half the seats reserved for female candidates, promoting gender inclusion in technical education.
